The “Qatar Emir Cup” is a football tournament that takes place in Qatar among the best teams of 1st and 2nd division. It is a particularly fan popular event that was first introduced in 1972 and since then has been taking place every year with great success.

This year’s final had an additional glamour added. Not only because the finalists, Al-Sadd Sc and Al-Duhail SC, delivered a spectacular game, scoring 5 times in front of (more than) 38.000 spectators, but also because it introduced the renovated Al Janoub Stadium, formerly known as Al Wakrah Stadium; a venue that will host also 2020 FIFA World Cup games.

At the final, that took place on 16 May 2019, Al-Duhail after scoring four times against the ‘16-times tournament winner’ Al-Sadd (final score 1-4), was crowned the big winner.
