What a successful year 2019 has been so far!
This March we proudly held the ticketing for the “The Total CAF Super Cup 2019”. That has been the 27th year of the CAF Super Cup, an annual football match in Africa organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), between the winners of the previous season's two CAF club competitions: the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
This year the Cup took place at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium, in Al Gharrafa, Qatar on March 29, between Espérance Sportive de Tunis from Tynisia, the 2018 CAF Champions League winners, and Raja Casablanca from Morocco, the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup winners.
Using a state-of-the-art cloud infrastructure, Ticketmaster provided a device-optimised, bespoken, bi-lingual, online ticketing portal, fully integrated with online payments and access control, services that allowed fans a 24/7 easy and efficient access to tickets.
As Qatar will be the 2022 FIFA World Cup hosting city, the CAF Super Cup was considered an important test event. In fact, it was considered such an important event, that for the first time three different associations – Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Stars League (QSL) – joined forces conducting the Local Organising Committee.
Commenting the partnership between the Local Organising Committee and Ticketmaster, Business Development Manager of Ticketmaster Hellas, Dimitrios Petropoulos, mentioned:
“It's was a real privilege for us (i.e. Ticketmaster) to be selected as the ticketing partner of The Total CAF Super Cup 2019 and a huge satisfaction that the outcome was such a success. Fulfilling our goals, we managed to deliver a top-class service to LOC and international stakeholders, as well as to all the fans that purchased tickets and enjoyed this celebration of football.”
Raja Casablanca was the winner (final score: 2–1) and was crowned for their second CAF Super Cup title.
From all of us in Ticketmaster, congratulations to the big winner.
This summer the city of Patras will be the attention of all Mediterranean countries.
